About Cara
Cara Sullivan is an artist and educator with a passion for making art approachable and meaningful for everyone. She earned her B.F.A. with honors from Arkansas State University and her M.F.A. from Rutgers University, home to one of the most rigorous visual art programs in the country.
Her background includes study abroad in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and exhibitions across the U.S. and internationally. While her own work is interdisciplinary, with a strong foundation in drawing and painting, her focus at The Creativity Lab is helping students build skills, confidence, and their own creative voice.
About the Lab
The Creativity Lab of Jonesboro is a welcoming, hands-on art studio where students ages 5 through adult can explore, experiment, and grow.
Classes are held in a private studio inside the Historic Berger House, a Victorian home built in 1896 and a beloved Downtown Jonesboro landmark. Once the Jonesboro Public Library (1950–1964), the space offers a unique, inspiring environment for creative work.
We offer homeschool and after-school classes during the school year, as well as art camps in the summer.
Our Approach
At The Creativity Lab, students are supported based on their goals—whether they want to explore freely or develop specific skills.
Through guided art challenges like drawing exercises, material-based projects, and perception-building drills, students strengthen their abilities and learn to see more closely. At the same time, they’re encouraged to follow their curiosity and branch off into independent projects—what we like to call “side quests.”
- Willingness to engage in materials and different ways of working matters more than any single outcome.
- Confidence through creativity: Growth comes from trying, experimenting, and taking risks.
- No single right way: Each student’s voice and ideas are valued.
- Creativity in everyday life: Art can be playful, useful, and deeply personal.
